Charities supported by Ontario 9

As a group, we participate in many fundraisers, Bar–B–Qs, Poker Runs and Rides near and far to help raise money and awareness for charities and causes we have come to know either through our work as Fire Fighters or through our passion for motorcycling.

 

Boylston

 

Red Knights Memorial in Boylston Mass. This memorial was unveiled in 2007 at the Boylston Fire Station, where the Red Knights began in 1982.  The names and Chapter Numbers of all Red Knights that have gone before us are inscribed on columns.  Ontario 9 has 3 members memorialized on this site  – Dante Aiello,  Pierre Surprenant,  and James McLachlin.


Dexter

 

Dexter BBQ Every year the Dexter FD in Dexter NY (East of Watertown) host a chicken BBQ to raise funds for equipment for their fire station. The Red Knights on both sides of the border have gathered for the feast on the first Sunday in May. This is an Ontario Association 6 event.


Camp Bucko

 

Camp BUCKO (BUrn Camp for Kids in Ontario) is a camp open to burn survivors between the ages of 7-17.  The camp has grown to over 70 children attending the week long camp at Camp Kodiak in August.  There is no fee to attend Camp BUCKO.


Wounded Warriors

 

Wounded Warriors Canada is a non–profit organization that helps Canadian Forces members who have been wounded or injured in their service to Canada. Their mandate is to help any Veteran in need as they transition to civilian life.


Ride For Dad

 

The mission of the TELUS Ride For Dad is to raise funds to save men’s lives by supporting prostate cancer research and raising public awareness of the disease. Their goal is for men to continue to be there for their families and friends for years to come. The parade of vehicles grabs the attention of the masses and the media on ride day, the research helps find hope for the future and the awareness has the potential of saving men’s lives today.


Habitat

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith based housing organization that works with people of all backgrounds, races and religions. Habitat assists low-income families to build their home by providing volunteer labour, donated materials and no-profit, no-interest mortgages tailored to their income level. As mortgages are repaid the funds are used to build more houses.
